| Maine Handicapped Skiing, a non-profit organization headquartered at Sunday River Ski Resort, teaches winter sports lessons to children and adults who have a physical disability. Lessons are taught in four sports: downhill and cross country skiing, snowboarding and snowshoeing. Three locations have MHS programs - Sunday River Ski Resort, Sunday River Inn & Cross Country Ski Center and Sugarloaf/USA. Lessons are available up to seven days a week, depending on location. Children, age six and older, and adults may participate. The involved ski area provides lift tickets and Maine Handicapped Skiing provides trained volunteer instruction and regular and adaptive sports equipment. New students and volunteers are welcome. | |
